What is Leadership Paducah?

Established in 1984, Leadership Paducah is a program to develop the leadership potential of men and women in the Paducah/McCracken County area. Leadership Paducah is a program of the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce and is self-sustaining through tuition, corporate support, and in-kind contributions. Leadership Paducah classes are comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds who have demonstrated a talent and commitment for leadership. Through this program they become acutely aware of social and economic changes and the impact of such changes in the local community.

Leadership Paducah is designed to foster an in-depth understanding of the inter-relationships and complexities of the Paducah/McCracken County area through a series of face-to-face discussions with community and state leaders.

Program......

Leadership Paducah is an educational program consisting of nine (9) monthly sessions beginning in September with a weekend orientation retreat and ending in June with graduation. Each day-long session deals with a broad topic that is explored through speakers, discussions, field trips, and other activities. A minimum of 20 "volunteer points" must be earned through participation in community events. Leadership Paducah requires a serious commitment of time and energies and graduates must agree to continue and strengthen their community involvement.

Attendance......

To meet graduation requirements, it is necessary that participants attend seven of the nine sessions of Leadership Paducah. Each sessions begins at the monthly Chamber Breakfast (7:30 am and concludes by 5:00pm).

Leadership Paducah is dedicated to the idea that no worthy leaders should be discouraged from applying due to a lack of funding. Tuition covers all costs for accommodations at the orientation retreat as well as monthly breakfast, and class materials.

The Leadership Foundation

The Leadership Paducah experience does not end at graduation. The graduates of the program are encouraged to join the Leadership Paducah Foundation, Inc.- a community resource of men and women capable of direction important community activities. The LPF provides an information network and a mechanism for maintaining contact that includes a web site membership directory and semi-annual newsletter. Alumni are also involved in class selection and planning the Leadership Paducah curriculum.
